West Moreton rail line multi-million-dollar maintenance

QUEENSLAND Rail crews recently undertook a range of major maintenance activities including track, signal and rail bridge improvements at various locations during a scheduled closure of the West Moreton rail line.

The line runs from Rosewood to Miles.

The maintenance activities included bridge works west of Rosewood where crews replaced a full deck of transoms (beams), bolstering the safety and reliability of the bridge.

“In the Rosewood area, crews also undertook rail restressing works and installed a variable message sign,” according to Queensland Rail Head of Regional, Scott Cornish.

“The maintenance works undertaken during the recent closure of the entire West Moreton line cost approximately $6.7 million.”
