MARBURG’S 21st Black Snake Creek Festival was a resounding success.
Marburg and District Resident’s Association president Leo Faranda said it was important sponsors and supporters were aware how appreciated their contributions were.
“We are deeply appreciative of the Community Bank Rosewood and District Bendigo Bank’s generous sponsorship,” he said.
“They’ve helped us put on the event the past 14 years and without them events like this one would not be possible.”
Leo has been a member of the association for three years.
This year’s festival was all about the half-century birthday.
The association’s history was displayed in the heritage centre for residents, new and old, to see how the town evolved.
The whole of community event included SES challenges, music playing and market stalls.
The Historical Society and Heritage centre were open to visitors on festival grounds opposite the Marburg Hotel.
As fitting with any significant milestone, a cake was made in celebration of the five decade milestone.
“We will be burying a time capsule at the front of the community centre,” Leo said.
“It will be set to be opened in 25 year’s time.”
The time capsule will include items from local schools, photographs and letters from politicians.
