Getting creative at Cabanda Care

Cabanda Care residents recently took part in an interactive experience to explore the remarkable beauty of the Great Barrier Reef.

Diversional Therapist Robyn Alsemgeest said that part of the exercise was armchair travel, where residents used their imaginations to transport them to the Great Barrier Reef.

“On our pretend flight, all involved were served an array of different foods accompanied with a drink of punch,” she said.

“Foods such as prawn cocktails and lamingtons were enjoyed, before a goodie bag filled with assorted lollies was handed out.

“The inflight movie was a documentary on the Great Barrier Reef, which showed the beauty of the reef, while sharing fun facts.

“Even though this activity was only a pretend flight to the reef, taking the residents to special places was the aim, while trying different foods and having fun.

“Everyone involved was also given a passport, to collect stamps of the places that have been explored as a keepsake.”

On the day, a colourful and creative reef display was made to brighten the room.
