Betty now has memories spanning 95 years

THE 95th birthday of respected community volunteer, Betty Perrin, was celebrated with family and friends recently in Rosewood’s Uniting Church hall.

Mrs Perrin was born in Nurse Stubbs’ hospital on March 26, 1928.

She lived on a farm in Mt Walker but has lived for most of her life with her husband Mervyn in Rosewood, where they raised a family of three.

Volunteering with the Rosewood Uniting Church, the Rosewood Seniors Group and with community events led to a large network of friends.

“I have been involved in the Uniting Church for most of my life, which provided me with the opportunity to volunteer in the Uniting Church Opportunity Shop,” she said.

“The Opportunity Shop was a great way to meet new families who worked and who visited the shop.

“But during Covid things changed and since this time I have not been back to volunteer.”

She remains involved in the Rosewood Seniors Group.

“It is a friendly group that visits different places and gets together socially. I do really enjoy this.”

Mrs Perrin enjoys her time with her friends, but the “really special times” are with her children, her two grandchildren and her two great grandchildren.

“Sadie and Kip are my great grandchildren, I enjoy watching them grow, spending time with them and playing a game of bat and ball,” she said.

“On my birthday Sadie and Kip visited me, along with other family members and my friends. We all enjoyed a morning tea and lunch. It was a lovely day.”
