Opportunity knocks for Rosewood organisations

ROSEWOOD Lions’ Opportunity Shop has been operating for 18 months and as a result, $11,700 has been donated to community organisations in a show of appreciation for the town’s support.

Secretary Christine Forrest said the Club had already donated a total of $6,500 to the Australian Lions Foundation National Disaster Appeal and the  Drug Awareness Appeal, the Lions Prostate Cancer Awareness and other organisations.

“The club has also donated $3,750 to the Royal Flying Doctor Service, Diabetes Australia, Care Flight, Camp Quality, Juvenile Diabetes Research, Epilepsy Queensland, the Leukaemia Foundation and Angel Flight,” she said.

“Our local organisations who received a total of $11,700 were Cabanda Care, the Rosewood Community Centre, the Men’s Workshop, the Rosewood Scout Group, the Rosewood Kindergarten, the Rosewood RSL and the Mt Walker Rural Fire Brigade.

“The Rosewood Community Centre, Little Athletics, Junior Rugby League, Swimming Club, the CWA and the School of Dance also received these donations.”

Lisa Benjamin from the Rosewood School of Dance is presented with a cheque from Rosewood Lions Secretary Christine Forrest.
