Students from St Brigid’s Catholic State School traded their school uniforms for French berets, scarfs and themed outfits as part of their learnings about Bastille Day.
The national day of France commemorates the storming of the Bastille during the French revolution on July 14, 1789.
Principal Duane Wann said the students study the French language as a subject at the school so he invited the children to dress up in costume to celebrate for the day.
“Children were encouraged to present in English to their class teacher and fellow classmates a few sentences about their costume,” he said.
Creativity was demonstrated with the students dressing up as artists, chefs, villagers incorporating props such as moustaches, braces, berets and the theme of black, red and white.
