HUNDREDS of gardeners and native plant enthusiasts made their way to the Rosewood Showgrounds on Saturday – drawn like bees to flowers by the sale organised by the Ipswich Branch of Native Plants Queensland.
The day attracted families who interacted with stall holders, plant specialists, animal lovers and community groups.
Heather Knowles said that it was a very busy morning with some growers selling out of their plants within the first few hours of opening.
“All day the flow of people coming in and out was constant and many families were really interested in finding out what rare and exotic plants were on sale,” she said.
“The Rosewood Community Centre provided a really nice breakfast and lunch menu and I really appreciate all of the hard work from their volunteers in serving this to the people throughout the day.
“Demonstrations were really popular, with live bats, colouring in activities and information brochures that were handed out during the day.”
Overall, the event was labelled as a huge success by all involved with each family taking home something to add to their garden.
