WORK on the concept and design of road and culvert rehabilitation in Adelong Avenue in Thagoona will happen this financial year.
In the 2022-23 Ipswich City Council Budget, $40,000 was allocated for sealed road rehabilitation and $75,000 was allocated for bridge and culvert rehabilitation.
Pavement rehabilitation does not include kerb and channel and only existing pavement will be reconstructed.
Cr Russell Milligan said the concept design of the road surface rehabilitation is scheduled to commence shortly, and be completed between April and June 2023.
“There will be minimal impact to the community, with minor disruptions from survey work and geotechnical investigations, which will be managed under traffic control, with through traffic maintained during the short period,” he said.
“There will be few noticeable changes to the street in the next year as concept design and proposed detailed design continues.
“Construction is scheduled for 2024 – 2025 and this will result in partial lane closure, traffic control and noise from machinery for a short period.”
Cr Kate Kunzelmann said the works may include the upgrading of existing driveway culverts to improve drainage.
“The Adelong Avenue project is within council’s Sealed Road Rehabilitation Program and has reached a point where reconstruction of the existing road surface is necessary.”
