Unoccupied dwelling fires

On March 1, Police and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) were called to a fire which was burning in an unoccupied dwelling on McGeary’s Road, Thagoona.

On Thursday, March 23, police and QFES were called to another fire which had taken hold in an unoccupied dwelling on the Rosewood Marburg Road, Rosewood.

Despite efforts from the QFES, the dwellings were fully engulfed by flames and could not be saved. No injuries were reported at either fire.

Police are seeking witnesses or anyone with information about the fires to call Crime Stoppers or to contact the Rosewood Police.

In court

On March 3, a 17-year-old male person from Fernvale was intercepted driving on Haigslea Amberley Road, Thagoona. Police will allege he was driving at 119kph in a signed 60kph zone. He was issued a traffic infringement notice of $1,653 and 8 demerit points.

On March 9, a Rosewood man, 55, was intercepted by the Ipswich Tactical Crime Squad while driving a vehicle. He was breath tested and returned a positive breath alcohol result. He was issued a Notice to Appear for unlicensed driving and driving over the middle alcohol limit and is due to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on April 5.

On March 18, Rosewood Police and the Ipswich Criminal Investigation Branch declared a Rosewood dwelling as a crime scene after receiving reports of a disturbance occurring in the vicinity. As a result, a Rosewood man, 40, was arrested and charged with going armed to cause fear, unlawfully dealing with noxious substances and drug related offences. The man was bailed to appear in Court on April 13.

On March 18, Rosewood Police intercepted a Coominya woman, 63, driving in Walloon. Police will allege she was driving unlicensed and was issued a Notice to Appear in Court in relation to the matter.
