ATHLETES and families from the Rosewood Branch Little Athletics enjoyed their annual break up and trophy presentation at the club shed, on the Rosewood State High School oval. This season the club registered 69 athletes.
Centre Manager Kyrlie Thomson congratulated all the athletes, especially those who competed in the Regional Relays, the Regional Championships and the State Championships.
“The committee has worked extremely hard with the Rosewood State School staff for improvements in the ground’s maintenance, and will continue to do so for the next season,” she said.
“Commitment to sport is really important, turning up each week has its challenges and I would like to pay tribute to all of the athletes who have shown dedication this season to their attendance.”
Trophies and certificates were awarded to athletes for age champion, attendance, most improved, senior and junior champions and participation awards for the tiny tots who are the youngest competitors at the club.
The Avril Clark Tiny Tot Encouragement Award was presented to Noah White and Charlotte Ferguson for showing promise and commitment to the Tiny Tot program.
Encouragement Awards were presented to Joshua James Heron and Ashlyn Grant to recognise their efforts, and to acknowledge their commitment for always putting in their best effort.
Branch member Jo Patterson was presented with the Rosewood Branch Little Athletics Service Award for her commitment and hard work behind the scenes to ensure all operations run smoothly and are made possible.
The Junior and Senior Championship Awards were presented to athletes who accumulated the highest number of points through the season, before the final award, the Citizenship Award was presented.
“Achieving personal best results is an important part of athletics and striving to improve your own performance is what little athletics is all about,” Kyrlie said.
“We encourage athletes to realise that it is not always about coming first, second or third, more it is about improving on your own personal performance each week.”
All athletes were congratulated at the presentation before a sausage sizzle, an Easter egg hunt and fun games were enjoyed to celebrate another successful year on the track.
