Marburg community lights up for the annual show

MARBURG celebrated 101 years of showcasing agriculture, entertainment, main ring features, local talent and farming while lifting community spirit at the annual Show over the weekend.

On the first day, judging was underway for dogs of all breeds, colours and sizes based on their physical characteristics and performance.

Dog owners took to preparing their pure-bred breeds, spending time brushing and pampering them before they entered the ring where they were judged on their individual performance.

Exhibits and pavilions were opened and the main ring came to life on the second day, where perfect weather lifted the spirits of excited families who walked through the gate to take part in Marburg’s biggest yearly event.

Marburg Show Society President Donald Noble joined official guests in the central arena to officially open the show, before the main parade that was led by the Amberley Pipe Band.

Dairy goats, stud beef cattle, miniature goats, horses, ponies and donkeys were led by their owners and school children who waved to the crowds as they marched proudly together.

Excitement filled the faces of children who waited patiently to experience their favourite rides, as show bags and prizes were enjoyed in side show alley.

Donald Noble expressed his gratitude and thanks to all the volunteers who worked behind the scenes to make sure everything was prepared and ready for this year’s show.

“It is always a very exciting day to showcase what the country shows are all about, and as president I am proud to be involved in all of it.”
