Rosewood Resident Robyn Clifford has taken home first place in the Open Knitting, Knitted Knee Rug, Arts and Crafts section at the Royal Queensland Show.
This is the first time Robyn has entered into the Royal Queensland Show after she was encouraged to do so by her sister Judith.
Her entry was a knitted blanket which measured 150 centimetres by 146 centimetres and it took at total of four weeks to create.
Robyn said that she started knitting when she was eight years of age, now 71, she said it has been a life long passion that she really enjoys.
“The pattern that I used for this winning blanket was a Tree of Life pattern made from Lion Brand yarn,” she said.
“Each time I create the pattern, I always change something, to make each creation a little different.”
Congratulated by her family and friends for winning at the Royal Queensland Show, Robyn was also awarded a blue ribbon, a detailed card and prize money of $25.
“I was in shock, and really surprised to have been awarded with the first prize win, so much so that I started dancing around the kitchen,” she said.
“Knitting has always provided me with so much happiness, and I will keep on creating new creations, while I will strive to enter into the show again next year.”
