THERE’S heart-pounding excitement, side splitting comedy, eyes-up-to-the-skies thrills, and eyes-down-to-the-ground thrills, awe-inspiring blazes and amusements for all ages in the entertainment line-up at the Rosewood Show.
Entertainment organiser, Cassie Seppanen, says the committee has brought in some of the best performers around to delight the crowd.
“The amazing Dave Manchon from Rooftop Express plans to premiere his new Ducks, Dogs and Dancing comedy show during the Saturday night program.
“It’s a real bonus to be selected to be the first to see this show and we’re certain it’s going to be a real crowd pleaser.”
Another big feature in the entertainment line-up is the Rosewood Bull Ride on Friday night.
“It’s run by the Hall Family Rodeo and always attracts some of the best bull riders on the circuit,” adds Show President, Paddy Lenihan.
“We usually expect a crowd of around 2,500 to 3,000 and they’re never disappointed.
“It’s top entertainment in a country setting – the atmosphere is both friendly and electrifying in equal measure.”
After the Bull Ride, Route 33 will set up beside the bar to entertain until late.
During the day on Friday and Saturday, the two Mic’s will help keep the kids entertained.
“They’re our roving entertainers,” says Cassie.
“Mic the Balloonatic makes balloon animals and sings songs and Mic the Bush Galah keeps people laughing and entertained in his own unique way.”
Also for the kids on Friday, there’s the animal nursery, pony rides and the popular Circus Play Space where the Kindled Spirits performers will teach them some circus tricks.
A very different aspect of the Kindled Spirits performers will be witnessed when the fire performers known as the Dynamic Duo blaze into the rodeo arena before the Bull Ride on Friday and as part of the night program on Saturday.
“It’s a high impact performance,” says Cassie, “and one we’re sure will keep the audience mesmerised.”
On Saturday, the entertainment is boosted even further with the first show on the main stage set for 11.30am.
“That’s when the Fusion Arts group step up to entertain with some musical theatre,” says Cassie.
Next up on the fun entertainment list is the kid’s eating competition.
“The kids who enter will have five minutes to see who can eat the most hot dogs,” says Paddy.
“After that it’s the adult’s turn. They’ll also be given five minutes but they have to see how many hamburgers they can eat – I expect we’ll be surprised by the end tally.”
And many regular showgoers will be happy to hear that the pig races will be run throughout the day by the team from the Nindigully Pub.
“There’ll be five pig races in all,” says Paddy. “Those races are always a winner with the crowd.”
Other entertainments on the Saturday will include reptile demonstrations, the Circus Play Space, the Kids Outback Challenge and a preview of the FMX Kaos stunt show.
The night program begins at 3.45pm and opens in the main arena with a horse liberty demonstration by the Rooftop Express.
This is followed by the ever-popular dog jumping contest.
“Dog owners are invited to nominate their dogs in a contest to see which one jumps the highest,” says Cassie.
“We are asking that owners fill in the general entry form online before the day – it’s really worth having a go as first prize is $200, second is $100, third is $75 and fourth is $50.”
Cassie adds that the dog jumping draws in the crowd.
“It’s something that you simply shouldn’t miss, it is a demonstration of the connection with dog and owner and a competition that brings families to their feet as each dog jumps to their best ability,” she said.
Next on the program is the Adults Outback Challenge which Cassie has designed to really live up to its name.
“The Challenge hasn’t been part of the Show for a long time,” says Cassie, “so we’ve re-instated it and tweaked it here and there to make it an even greater contest of skill and stamina … and good fun to watch.”
Then, following the Kindled Spirits fire show and the Ducks, Dogs and Dancing by the Rooftop Express, all eyes will be on the FMX Kaos motocross riders in an extreme, death defying performance of high flying stunts.
