Grandchester ladies’ lunch to unite

A new community initiative aimed at fostering connection and companionship among women will launch this month in Grandchester, with organisers inviting locals to gather for a relaxed lunchtime meet-up at the Grandchester Hotel.

The ladies’ lunch, to be held on the last Monday of each month, will begin at 11am on 23 February. There is no joining fee, the venue is wheelchair accessible, and attendees are simply encouraged to come along, purchase their own meal if they wish, and enjoy conversation in a welcoming setting.

Narelle Johnson said the concept emerged during a recent craft gathering at the Grandchester Hotel, where she and lunch co-organiser Noela Blake recognised the need for a regular social space that brings women together in a supportive and positive setting.

“We thought it would be nice to have a get together, and have more people down to enjoy themselves with us.” said Narelle.

Rather than structured catering, the informal format allows attendees to order individually from the hotel menu, ensuring dietary preferences and costs remain flexible.

Cliff Johnson, who assisted with promotion of the event, said early enquiries had followed the social media posts advertising the lunch, and suggested the concept could expand in future.

“If it turns out that it’s going to be a good day, we may end up doing a lunch and an evening (option), not on the same day, but split it up in the month.” Cliff said.

So ladies, mark your calendars for the last Monday of each month at 11am at the Grandchester Hotel, for some good company, great food and making new friends.
