Mardi Gras-Burg celebrates rural pride

MARDI Gras-Burg turned a hotel backyard in Rosewood into a weekend of music, colour, and celebration.

Founded by Bryant Strong, the biennial festival draws families and friends from across Southeast Queensland to celebrate and support the LGBTQIA+ community.

Drag acts, trivia, and local performers – including country star Damien J Johnson, Bee Bee Riot and Georgie Taylor – kept crowds entertained.

Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said the Saturday event was “heartwarming” and praised the mix of music, market stalls, and community spirit.

Member for Ipswich West Wendy Bourne and Member for Blair Shayne Neumann were also on hand, joining hundreds in a celebration of inclusion.
