Big 150 celebrations planned for Rosewood school

THE countdown has begun as Rosewood State School’s 150th Committee works towards its anniversary celebrations.

The committee is made up of current P&C members, Acting Principal Leigh O’Shea, current and past teachers and local historians.

It’s a broad spectrum but the end game is the same – make sure the school’s history is properly honoured.

P&C president Jenna Culley said she understood the significance of the milestone when she was elected at the start of the year.

“We have a small, dedicated group that is now working hard to bring Rosewood State School and the Rosewood community the celebration they deserve,” she said.

“Milestones like this give individuals and the community an opportunity to reflect on the significant role that Rosewood State School has played.

“We plan to reflect on how the town and school have grown over the years.

“We also wonder what the future may look like for our students as they grow up in a very different teaching environment to those of the past.”

To make the celebrations spectacular, committee members are gathering information from past articles, photos and historic achievements.

“Each month, the P&C post a topic on its Facebook page to get community feedback,” she said.

“These include what students have had great sporting success, who was the favourite teacher and ideas for next year’s time capsule.”

The committee are working on the program for the day and details of the event will be released in 2025.
