Cash in on living a healthier life

AN IMPROVED quality of life is what Lisa Cash wants for her clients and her passion is finding out how to make this happen.

The Boonah Health Hub owner has empathy and understanding, and tailors plans to suit a client’s needs.

She is also an NDIS provider.

“Some just need to make sure if they fall, they can get back up again,” she said.

“And others need help working on balance and strength so they don’t fall and break their hip, which can be life changing for the elderly.

“I’ve had a few clients where I’ve helped them get up and down off the ground whereas before they’ve fallen and been unable to get back up.

“They’ve been seeing me the past two months and now one of them can actually get down on the ground and up again without any aid.”

She helps clients understand how their body functions.

“I help them understand how their body responds and adapts to physical activity as well as cardiovascular health and respiratory effectiveness,” she said.

“I arm them with the knowledge of what exercise physiology does and show them techniques and ways to optimise and prevent or help with any sort of injury.”

Lisa tells of an 86-year-old client who came to her after having fallen numerous times.

“He wanted to be able to stay on his feet and not hurt himself,” she said.

“We worked on his strength, his balance and his ability to be able to get up off the ground if he did fall.

“He’s since gained strength and the ability to balance so he’s not falling, and if he did fall, he can now get up off the ground.”

Sometimes it’s hard to know where to start, most people want to improve their quality of life but feel ‘too far gone’ or that its too hard or pointless.

“You don’t have to change your whole life, just little pieces of it,” she said.

“If you just change your exercise to start with, you’ll start to feel better and might not want to eat the type of food you were eating.”

Older folk worry they’ll lose independence as their body ages, but Lisa can help keep it as strong as possible for as long as possible.

“My training helps clients cope with everyday life, ensuring they stay out of a nursing home longer and lower their risk of developing chronic diseases.

“I care a lot about people, once you’re on my books, you’re on my book for life

“I have that care factor and I actually want to help them, it’s not my job it’s my passion.”

Lisa is an accredited clinical exercise physiologist who specialises in neurological conditions, chronic pain and metabolism.

Boonah Health Hub also has a gym, runs group fitness classes and offers personal training.

Also on site is podiatry, a chiropractor, dietitian, nutritionist and herbal medicine expert, physiotherapy, a beauty technician and acupuncture services.

Home visits can be arranged, and sessions held at Boonah’s heated therapy pool for those with limited movement.
