A day of free family fun in Rosewood

THE first day of July marked another free Rosewood Family Fun Day at the community centre.

The Rosewood and District Support Centre hosts these fun days every school holidays.

“These days are a great initiative which brings the community together,” explained Community Project Worker Tia Lancaster.

“The aim is to give everyone who attends a free morning of fun where parents don’t have to think about cost. This is something that is becoming even more important with the increased cost of living pressures.”

Activities such as laser tag created quite a buzz and multiple jumping castles had children bouncing off the walls, literally!

“A winter wonderland theme was the inspiration for the snow and bubble disco tent that had everyone giggling at bubbles lingering in their hair and on their shoes,” Tia said.

“Creativity was showcased through the various craft activities.

“Former Rosewood State School student, Arriell, donated her time and expertise to offer free face painting to families with assistance and materials from Alias Creations Face Painting.”

Families were treated to a free sausage sizzle while coffee, drinks and sweet offerings such as donuts and ice-creams were available for purchase.

“Local firefighters created an element of excitement and education as children were awed by the impressive fire truck while learning about safety and how to be prepared in readiness for the bushfire season,” she said.

“Police engaged with families and were a valuable element of the information stalls.

The Support Centre often works in conjunction with community groups in support of the community.

“This Family Fun Day the Support Centre worked closely with the Anglican Church congregation who provided volunteers to cook the sausage sizzle and offered the church grounds to help make this event a success.

The next Rosewood Family Fun Day will be held during the September school holidays.
