Wonderful atmosphere at Rosewood Anzac Day services

A CROWD numbering more than 800 gathered in the pre-dawn light outside the Rosewood Memorial Hall to take part in the first Anzac Day Service on Thursday.

And later that morning around 500 lined John Street to applaud the parade participants on their march to the Memorial Hall.

“The parade was much bigger than we’ve seen for years,” said Rosewood RSL Secretary, Carmel Luetchford.

“The community support for the RSL in Rosewood is phenomenal and the atmosphere created by the crowd on Anzac Day was wonderful.

“The RSL is very appreciative for the support shown by the community.”

The 36 Squadron from Amberley provided the catafalque party for the Morning Service which followed the parade.

“Flight Sgt Jonathon Davies was the guestspeaker at the Dawn Service and Flight Officer Samuel Carson was the guestspeaker at the Morning Service,” Carmel said.

The parade was led by Jo Clark on Garland who was in the uniform she wears when she rides the RAAF Amberley mascot. (The Squadron’s crest features a rearing horse).

Approximately 50 Veterans followed and were joined by students from six schools – Rosewood High and Primary, St Brigid’s, Walloon, Ashwell and Mt Marrow.

The Rosewood Lions Club were represented, as were many other community groups and community members.

An EA-18G Growler Aircraft from RAAF Amberley performed the fly past during the morning parade.
