Daren trumps with Moogerah bass

THE Rosewood Amateur Fishing Club kicked off the 2024 competition season with a trip to beautiful Moogerah Dam.

The dam was absolutely stunning with the water level at 100% due to recent rain.

Unfortunately, due to the amount of rain which fell, the water was a little fresh and the fishing didn’t come easy.

After trolling for many hours Daren Henderson claimed first place with five Bass earning 72.9 points.

Peter Gillon came second with a catch of four Bass, earning 44.2 points.

Donna Henderson took out third place by catching three Bass for 41.2 points.

For most members competing for the weekend it was … ‘better luck next time’.

Another freshwater trip is being held in March, with Leslie Dam near Warwick chosen as the venue.

Hopefully, a chance to land some decent Yellow Belly. And with a little luck a Murray Cod.
