Wet weather provides multiple challenges for Council

THE summer storms and rain have delayed Council’s maintenance schedule.

Mayor Teresa Harding said the continuing wet weather had “played havoc” with council’s regular schedule and council crews have been diverted to storm affected areas and people who are in need.

“The open space maintenance team mow about 43,732 acres per year which is equivalent to 5,893 Suncorp Stadiums, and that does not include urban footpaths and drainage channels which are considerably more,” she said.

“Council’s maintenance teams are now working longer hours and weekends to ensure our maintenance schedule is back on track.”
