Police Station build update

Rosewood Police and staff have now moved out of the Rosewood Police Station and are operating out of Marburg Police Station while construction on the new station gets underway.

A building contractor has been awarded the tender for the project and has taken control of the building site and fencing has been erected.

There will be an increase in building activity with the demolition process set to commence before the Christmas break and building is due to start in early 2024.

Administration staff are available for all Queensland Transport and Weapons Licencing enquiries at the Marburg Station, from Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:00pm.

The Rosewood Police stations phone number has been diverted to the Marburg station or email: Rosewood.Station@police.qld.gov.au

On October 2, Rosewood Police responded to a report of a man graffitiing at the Tom Lenihan Park in Rosewood. Police located a man, 43, from the Gold Coast in possession of spray paint and cannabis. He was also wanted on a warrant and was arrested. Police will allege the man then assaulted the two officers before being effectively restrained and transported to the Ipswich Watch House where he was charged with eight offences including wilful damage, serious assault, possessing drugs and failing to appear. He was remanded in custody.

On October 3, Police from the Ipswich Highway Patrol intercepted a Kingscliff man, 48, on John Street, Rosewood. On November 4, Rosewood Police received a complaint from a woman of being stalked and sexually assaulted by a male colleague in Walloon. Following the matter being investigated Rosewood Police arrested a Redbank Plains man, 18, and he was charged with stalking, common assault and sexual assault. The man was bailed to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on January 10, 2024.

Hooning

Rosewood Police station OIC, Sgt Travis Ehrich said that the Rosewood and Walloon areas are seeing another spate of dangerous hooning behaviours.

While Police are aware of several of these repeat offenders and have taken action against them, Police are seeking further information from members of the community to assist with identifying other drivers.

Without community assistance in identifying these drivers it is very difficult to identify these idiots and stop their dangerous behaviours.

Thefts

Several instances of copper wire and appliances have been stolen from the new houses under construction in the The Dawn Estate in Walloon in recent weeks. Police are asking community members to be vigilant in reporting suspicious behaviours to 131 444 or Crimestoppers.
