Rosewood Police will be on the move in October

THE date has been set for the Rosewood Police to move out of the current police station in preparation for the ‘demolition of the old and rebuilding of the new’.

The old station building was officially opened by the then Deputy Premier Bill Gunn on May 10, 1989.

Rosewood OIC, Sgt Travis Ehrich said that the needs of the rapidly growing community had outgrown the building.

“[The station no longer] has the ability to house sufficient police to serve the area and, let’s admit it, it looks a little tired,” he said.

“Friday October 6, will be the final day of operation of the front counter at the Rosewood Station for Queensland Transport and Weapons Licencing enquiries and Sunday October 8 will be the final day of operational policing shifts.”

In the week following these ‘final days’, the Rosewood Police will remain on site and complete the move from Rosewood to Marburg Station.

“To ensure a policing presence is maintained in Rosewood during this period,” Sgt Ehrich said, “police from neighbouring divisions will be in attendance and responding to calls for service.

“A strong police presence will be maintained in Rosewood during this process and will be available 24 hours in the case of emergencies.

“Rosewood Police will also place the Mobile Police Beat facility in prominent locations in Rosewood to maintain an increased police presence in the township during the build.”

Rosewood Police will operate out of the Mobile Police Beat for several days, each week.

“Unfortunately, no licencing transactions can be conducted at the Police Beat and must still be completed at a station,” he continued.

“It is anticipated that the move will be complete on October 13, 2023 and a return to normal front counter service will be available from Marburg Station with both Stu and Cheryl available for all your Queensland Transport and Weapons Licencing enquiries from Monday October 16.”

These hours will be the usual hours of Monday to Friday 8.00am to 4.00pm.
