Final plans of the new Rosewood police station

With the Rosewood Police now on the move to the Marburg Police Station to make way for the new Rosewood Police Station, final design plans are now in place.

The construction tender is expected to be called in September this year, and construction on the new station is expected to be finished by the middle of 2024.

Final design plans state that the new station will be a single storey building, with new vehicle crossovers, car parking and landscaping.

Member for Ipswich West Jim Madden said the State Government budget provided funding of $1.875 million dollars part of the total spend of $4 million dollars.

“The former police residence building, which is currently located on the corner of John and Railway Streets, form part of the Rosewood police complex and is listed on the Queensland Heritage Register,” he said.

“The Department of Environment and Science has issued an exemption certificate for the relocation of the former police residence to be moved next to the former Rosewood Magistrates Court building.

“Demolition of the existing police station building and the relocation of the police residence, will take place to make way for the new construction works.

“It is fantastic to see this critical project moving forward, because our Queensland Police Service personnel spend their days protecting this community and they deserve the very best facilities.

“I want to thank Deputy Premier Steven Miles, and his department for their consideration and approval of the Ministerial Infrastructure Designation, which means the upgrade of the Rosewood police station can get underway as soon as possible.

“I would also like to thank Minister for Police Mark Ryan, who has been dedicated to this project for some time, I thank him for his advocacy.

“I am confident the approval process by the Department of State Development has addressed critical aspects of the build and there is no doubt our officers and community will benefit from the upgraded station.”
