Double celebration for Rosewood golfer

ROSEWOOD Golf Club’s John Hunter has been awarded Life Membership to honour 51 years of service to the sports organisation.

As well as the Life Membership, John cut the cake to celebrate his 88th birthday with members and friends at the club in a double celebration that was enjoyed by all.

Currently, John is the Club Handicapper which involves looking after the handicaps for all players. He also takes care of the scores and assists with other information needed during the golf season.

His Life Membership badge was presented by Club Captain Shane Browning and during the presentation, John was congratulated for his dedication to the club and for over 50 years of voluntary service.

John joined the Rosewood club in 1972 and during the years since then, he has assisted in maintaining the club gardens, on the golf green and he has taken on many other voluntary roles.

Pursuing his love for the sport, John continues to play golf in Rosewood and Ipswich, described as an inspiration and a mentor his service is appreciated by all.
