A day of fun at the Marburg races

A NINE race program of harness racing, miniature trots, free activities, face painting and treats for the children – a combination that pleased the crowd at the Marburg Pacing Association’s Easter Sunday at the Races.

Expert tips were shared by Anthony Collins and Denis Smith to racegoers who also had the chance to gain extra tips from the bookmakers to back a race winner.

The main race on the day was the Oakwood Capital Goldstrike Series Final that was won by Driver Adam Sanderson with Horse In Chevron We Trust NZ.

Trackside, the Easter Bunny surprised families with an appearance and treats for each child and handed them out with assistance from the Association President Scott Neaves.

Scott said that more than 300 treats were given away on the day.

“This annual event at Marburg is always one of the busiest times for the association, and as President of the club it is always great to welcome all families to the track,” he said.

“It was estimated that almost 1000 people had joined us, this is such a positive and fantastic response and the entire organisation is extremely grateful.”

Throughout the day raffle prizes, funny money and free giveaways were also enjoyed, which added to the fun and welcoming atmosphere.

It was a fun day out with something for everyone.
