Hoons bring danger and loud noise

HOONS racing cars are affecting the Rosewood Ipswich Road and Walloon Road in Rosewood according to reports from residents, who point to ripped rubber and tyre marks on the roads.

Rosewood resident Macey Lange said the roads have been “ripped up, with rocks and dirt sprayed everywhere and bits of rubber left all over the road” due to the activities of the hoons.

“The loud, roaring noise coming from the cars that are being trashed along this stretch of road, has left me wondering why on earth these people not only put their own lives at risks but also the lives of others?” she said.

“Often the roundabout at the top end of Rosewood, on John Street and Walloon Road is one of the main places where you can often hear loud noises from burn-outs and seeding.

“This behaviour puts the community at risk and I believe that it is only a matter of time before someone is seriously hurt.”

Her concerns also extend to Ipswich Rosewood Road.

“Late at night just before midnight on the weekends I have been woken up to the loud screeching noises coming from cars and I often wait to hear a loud bang,” she said.

“This is a problem that has been happening for quite some time, and it will probably continue, as I understand that our local police cannot be in more than one place at the same time.

“As an alternative to police being present at these two locations maybe cameras can be installed, as I think this option will capture number plates which will lead to catching the people who are responsible for this dangerous behaviour.”
