Alex is named the 2023 Rosewood Lions Citizen of the Year

THE 2023 Rosewood Lions Citizen of the Year is Alex Mair, who was selected for his outstanding service to the Rosewood Scouts Group and the Rosewood Uniting Church community.

Alex was acknowledged for two decades of service to the Rosewood Scout Group, as well as taking on the roles of District Commissioner, Assistant Regional Commissioner and Regional Commissioner.

He is a member of the National Training Team for Scout Leaders in South East Queensland, and has been involved in organising many big catering jobs for the Scout movement.

The Uniting Church at Walloon has also benefited from Alex’s service from education to training, and his experience has equipped him to be a hands-on leader.

Ben Abraham and Christine Forrest were the other two nominees for the Citizen of the Year award and were also congratulated for their dedication to serving their community.

The Club’s Citizen of the Year co-ordinator, Lion Clyde Nicoll said that all of the nominees should be very proud to be nominated for this award.

“The Rosewood Lions recognise all of the nominees for their individual achievements and for the ways in which they have contributed to make the community a better place,” he said.

“It was a tough decision for our judges as all three of our nominees have contributed so much to their chosen organisations, groups and also to the families who live in our community.

“Congratulations to Alex Mair for being awarded as the Rosewood Lions Citizen of the Year, and congratulations also to Ben Abraham and Christine Forrest.”
