STUDENTS are thoroughly enjoying the new $100,000 playground at the Rosewood State School.
The playground consists of a giant pirate ship, complete with mast, cargo nets, slide, port holes and a real-life walking plank. Work on the playground began in April and is now complete.
School Principal Georgia O’Shea said that the project was funded by the school with support from the school’s Parents and Citizens Association.
“This new and fantastic space also includes a vegetable garden, that provides an interactive nature space alongside the pirate ship,” she said.
“School staff along with members from the school community are really proud to see the creation and the students have demonstrated how happy they are when playing together on it.
“This allows children to develop their gross motor skills, imaginative play and social skills whilst providing opportunities to explore healthy eating options within the vegetable garden.
“Beside the ship is a water play creek bed with landscaped surrounds and students have been most excited to see busy bees at work pollinating the flowers.”
