Day tripping into Rosewood on his favourite motorcycle

RACEVIEW resident Allan Harvey set out to enjoy the open air on his 2011 Triumph motorcycle recently and arrived in Rosewood ready to have a chat with passers by.

Allan said that he often enjoys getting out on the open road to see the landscapes, the animals and to check in on his mates who live in and around the Rosewood area.

“I often set out for Rosewood for the day specially to pick up the local newspapers that are available at the Rosewood Newsagency,” he said.

“The Moreton Border News is a favourite that is always well received when I drop it to my friends who are unable to get into town.”

Allan’s interest in motorcycles began in earnest after he purchased a 1950 BSA (Birmingham Small Arms) motorcycle.

“What a beauty it was,” he says as he reflects on that

“I do enjoy a chat and often when I pull up on my Triumph it causes some interest to those who also share an interest in motorbikes, and it is nice to share the history of my bike with them.”

Allan said that when he called into Rosewood recently the talk soon turned to the flood as it was only two days after the rain stopped when he rode into town.

“I have seen a few floods in my time but I have never seen one like this.

“The amount of rain that fell in such a short time was really unbelievable.

“Where I live in Ipswich, I was not really affected but seeing surrounding homes and families who were, was quite the eye opener and I really feel for them.

“For the entire time through the rain event I was constantly emptying out my rain gauge and the rain that fell was so hard to keep track of.

“Then when I spoke to a friend who had recorded over 800 millimetres of rain I realised why.”
