One-of-a-kind play area planned for Rosewood State School

THE development of a new nature play area is underway at Rosewood State School and is expected to be completed during the first term of the new school year.

The $100,000 project has been fully funded through the school and P&C funds.

Deputy Principal Andrew Carter said the play area had taken 12 months to plan and throughout this time the school staff and P&C have worked hard on raising the necessary funds.

“The works are due to commence in December and the project will be complete in Term 1 of 2022,” he said.

“The main features of the play area will be a large climbing ship with netting, an enclosed slide, a wet creek bed with log walk overs and a new shade area.

“In the interactive play area there will also be a performing arts stage, tiered seating, a boat stage, cubbies, stick gunyah and tables.”

Gardening will also be a priority for those children who like to get out into nature as there will be raised garden beds, a compost bin and worm farms.

“We are very excited as a school for this new one-of-a-kind area for our students and a sandpit, hopscotch, alphabet and numbers games will also be available.”
