Rosewood SES Group gain new equipment trailer

THE Rosewood SES Group have received a new fully equipped trailer for use during their response to calls for help after damaging storms.

The Group currently has 20 active members and Deputy Group Leader John Simpson said that this is as a result of last year’s weather event where the SES became more exposed to the community.

“This is one positive result from what was a devastating event with new younger members joining the SES and bringing with them many competencies. This is one of the groups proudest achievements,” he said.

As the Group currently grows the news of the addition of a new  storm damage response trailer has been well received by all.

The trailer comes equipped with power, the latest technology, torches, tarps, height safety equipment, personal protective equipment, chainsaws, power equipment, batteries and everything needed in emergency situations.

Group Leader Ben Baxter said they were fortunate to have received the trailer and all members were grateful as it will make the job to assist the community in the event of a disaster a lot easier.

“All residents within the community must start to get ready for the storm season now.

“Last year’s October hail storm caused shock and devastation to the area with over 900 jobs that the Rosewood SES attended too,” he recommended.

“I would recommend for those who thought that their homes did not get damaged to still get their roof assessed.

“We received calls from residents who thought that their roofs were still intact reporting water coming into their homes due to rain events after the October storm.

“Do not take the storm season for granted because last year was quite bad, work with us to ensure you are ready and prepared, a more resilient community that helps themselves is a safer one.”
