BALLET student Emalea Kington recently performed in front of a large crowd in the Brisbane City Youth Ballet’s production of ‘The Snow Queen’ at the Home of the Arts on the Gold Coast.
Emalea, who trains with the Rosewood School of Dance, was selected for her role in an audition involving 180 dancers from 47 dance school from across Australia.
This is now her second debut after being part of the Youth Ballet’s ‘Alice in Wonderland’ production at the Brisbane Powerhouse in January.
In the lead up to the performance of ‘The Snow Queen’, the young dancers took part in a five-day rehearsal period, which was delayed by a week due to the recent Covid-19 lockdown.
Emalea was in the role of a villager in the early scene of the show and afterwards said she was excited to be back on stage as well as relieved that the lockdown was lifted before the event was scheduled.
“I really liked my costume and performing on stage, it has been a really fun experience where I have learnt so much,” she said.
“I am happy to have had this experience with such talented dancers and teachers and I have made so many new friends who I will see again at the Brisbane City Youth Ballet’s next audition for the production of Sleeping Beauty.”
