FOR MANY years the roundabout on John Street in Rosewood has stood out to all who entered the town with vibrant pops of colour from the floral plantings.
But recently, a Rosewood resident was met with disappointment when she viewed the roundabout.
Sandy Lee reported that she saw workers who appeared to her to be Council staff spraying the flowers at the roundabout.
Describing what she saw as “unusual”, she made a note to look again the next day and to her surprise the flowers had wilted and had appeared to have died.
She said the floral display at the roundabout was something that always put a smile on her face and to see that the plants had appeared to have been poisoned really upset her.
The Moreton Border News contacted the Ipswich City Council and the following response was received.
“Ipswich City Council is aware that flowers on the John Street roundabout at Rosewood have unfortunately died,” the spokesperson said.
“Council is yet to determine the cause.
“The dead plants were removed on July 16 at around 11am and plants will be ordered for this roundabout next week to be installed from the week of July 27.”
