Vale Robert Lewis Blake 01/03/1935 – 03/06/2021

ROBERT (Robbie) Blake was a Marburg man and was one of nine children born to Edward and Ida Blake.

Robbie was educated at Marburg State School where he was involved in cricket and tennis.

Throughout his working life, he had four jobs – the first at Beilefields Store in Marburg, then the Blue Star Service Station, followed by Dances Bakery at Marburg, and finally at Burnie Boards in Bundamba.

It was during his employment in 1971 at the Blue Star Service Station that he met the love of his life, Noela.

Robbie invited Noela to a dance and from there the couple hit it off and were married on August 4, 1973 in Marburg at the Anglican Church.

Robbie was known as a family man who loved taking his children on many outings and picnics including day trips to the beach.

Community involvement was important to the couple so they went on to join the Rosewood Pensioners League together.

Robert held the role as President of the club for many years and Noela took on the job as bus convenor.

After living in Marburg, the couple moved to the Over 50s Village at Willowbank in 1995, where they made many friends.

They organised many holidays for their friends and fellow community members, setting off too to destinations such as Gosford, Tasmania, Cairns and Bundaberg.

Away from travel and his family, Robbie enjoyed creating things out of wood, like doll’s furniture, cars and trucks and he was also a keen gardener.

In 2019, Robbie became unwell but fortunately he could still participate in things that he enjoyed. However, in May this year, he was hospitalised and passed away peacefully surrounded by his family.

“Robbie was loved by all who knew him,” said Noela in paying tribute to her husband of almost 50 years.
