Following on from an approach by David Pahlke, Ipswich City Councillors Sheila Ireland
Russell Milligan and Kate Kunzelmann organised a $2,400 grant to commission a new Town and Country Volunteers Honour Board.
Names on the original board were those of volunteers whose dedication and commitment earned them a place on the board, which was an initiative and the former Councillor, David Pahlke.
It was in his office that the board was on display from the time it was first unveiled in 2006.
However, in 2018 when the office was closed while under the Interim Administrator, former Council CEO David Farmer deemed the board as not formally endorsed or supported by the council and it was destroyed.
In response to this the Rosewood Lions wanted to continue to maintain a local recognition of volunteers in the community and worked with Crs Ireland, Milligan and Kunzelmann.
As a result, the new board was made and now local volunteers names are again on display in the Rosewood Drakes.
