NERVES mixed with excitement at the opportunity led two competitors from Walloon to win places at the Bend the Air competition which was held at the La Boite Theatre in Brisbane on August 28 and 29.
The duo from the Activ8 Personal Training and Aerials Studio, Steph Mouw and Victoria Hogarth had been training for the event for many weeks and competed in both a solo routine and together in a duo apparatus.
Trainer Donna Pottinger said the two day event attracted 144 performers from all over the country.
“In the open apparatus solo, Victoria placed third.
“In the Lyra Solo Advanced, Stephanie placed third and in the Open Apparatus Duo performance the ladies also took home the third place win.”
She said that a third placing in each of the events that they entered was … “an awesome achievement and the ladies should be very proud”.
On the day, Victoria and Stephanie competed on the main stage in front of a large crowd.
Both competitors entertained the crowd as they showed off different drops, rolls, tricks and floor work.
Now they plan to continue their training at the studio and look forward to future competitions together.
