THE Rosewood Native Plant Sale and Environmental Day will be staged once again with rare species of native plants available for purchase.
The sale is hosted by the Ipswich branch of Native Plants Queensland and members will be available to share their expertise and knowledge regarding buying, planting and growing a whole variety of native plants to experience the best result possible in your backyard.
The organisation concentrates on supporting the genetic diversity of native plants by growing them from seed and the sale will offer a wide range of ground covers, shrubs, revegetation and drought hardy plants.
Native plant grower Heather Knowles said native varieties attract wildlife, bees and other animal species to the garden complementing the beautiful flora that the species offers.
“The plant sale is free for all families to attend and we will be complying with Covid safe measures,” she said.
“We do encourage everyone to bring along their own bags or boxes as well as an open mind as there will be many growers and plant lovers there who will be sharing their advice on the day.
“Amongst the specialised species, bushfood, flowering shrubs, rare and threatened species will be available and the prices start from as little as $2.”
Stalls and displays will be open for people of all ages to interact and learn something new to take back to their garden.”
Representatives from the Ipswich Koala Protection Society, Bat Rescue, Bush Food Association, Ipswich City Council Conservation, Birds Queensland, Bob the Bee man, Botanical Artists Society of Queensland will be there and food will be on sale from the volunteers at the Rosewood Community Centre.
“This will be the perfect opportunity for anyone wanting to make a real difference to the local environment by introducing a wide range of flora to their garden,” Heather said.
“Attracting host plants, while simultaneously growing a secure native food, medicine and utility plant source for your own use and that of the like-minded wider community.”
