MORE than 70 Christmas Cheer hampers have been distributed to families within the Rosewood community.
Community Centre volunteers have been busy putting together hampers containing dry food goods, Christmas treats and toys that were donated by local businesses and church groups.
Centre Manager Donna Hanlon said the donations to the annual hampers were overwhelming with a high increase in numbers for recipients within the area.
“The generosity from all of the businesses and church groups is truly unbelievable with the Centre receiving cash donations along with item donations to help make up all of the hampers,” she said.
“To be able to help families in some way really means a lot to all of our hard-working volunteers and the donations behind it all really is a true example of what community is all about.
“Businesses have gone above and beyond by assisting with cash to purchase items to add to the hampers, and each family also received toys, stationery and sweets to help with gifts.
This is the busiest time of year for the Centre but volunteers say the smiles and gratitude from people they help makes it all worthwhile..
