ROSEWOOD Police have been amazed at the vast majority of Rosewood residents banding together and helping their neighbours in this time of emergency. What a town!
Swift water rescues from flooded roads
Rosewood Police have responded to dozens of calls for service throughout the Rosewood, Marburg and Lowood Policing divisions since Friday, February 25.
These requests were largely due to people ignoring road closed signage and driving their vehicles into flooded areas.
If you do not need to leave your house for an essential reason then please stay home and off the roads in times of flooding. Remember, if it is flooded, back it up.
The waters around Rosewood have receded during the week however the structural integrity of the damaged roads and bridges has not yet been established, you never know what is underneath.
If a Road Closed sign is up then they are enforceable – even if the road seems clear do not risk it.
Playing in flood waters
Parents, please keep your children out of the flood waters.
The flood waters can have raw sewerage in it and debris, not to mention snakes and spiders.
Do not inadvertently make more work for our stretched emergency and health care services just because your kids wanted to play.
Death of SES member
Sadly, one of our State Emergence Services heroes Merryl Dray lost her life while responding to a call for help in the Marburg area. This again outlines the risk that our emergency services put themselves into to try and help others.
