THE Rosewood Lions banded together to raise community spirits after the floods and to mark Lions Awareness Week with a free sausage sizzle in the main street of Rosewood on Saturday.
Lions Awareness Week recognises club volunteers who take part in fundraising to help families in need through crisis, flood, drought and also through supporting medical research organisations.
Rosewood Lion Tanya Johnson said that the Lions’ volunteers had a busy morning with lots of sausages given out over smiles and friendly conversation.
“The sausages were free all morning though donations were welcome and all up we raised $245.10 which will all go back to the community,” she said.
“It was great to catch up with the locals to find out how they have fared during the recent flood and to find out how families were going in general.
“Over the past year the Lions have helped out many families through sharing donations and vouchers to those who may have experienced hard times.”
