The Coppers Log

Coffee with a Cop

Rosewood OIC Sgt Travis Ehrich arranged for the Project Booyar Coffee Van to be at the Rosewood Drakes Carpark, to share coffee and treats with the community.

Project Booyar runs activities to support youth at risk. They engaged with Rosewood Police and the Rosewood High School to discuss issues with young people.

Rosewood High School Cross Country

Last Friday, Sgt Ehrich and Const Zion Cole attended the Rosewood High school cross country event.

Both Sgt Ehrich and Const Cole were talked into competing against the seniors and put in a gutsy effort but did not come anywhere near the pace set by the winners, though Sgt Ehrich won age champion in the Masters Category – admittedly he was the only competitor.

Sgt Ehrich said that a great day was had by everyone and the police intend to go to the school during the forthcoming athletics carnival to compete in some events and “restore some pride”.

Walloon crime, lock it or lose it

Rosewood Police have recognised a recent increase in property crime offences in the usually very low crime area of Walloon.

These offences have largely been unlocked vehicles and dwellings being entered by opportunistic thieves.

Investigations are continuing into these offences and police are seeking anyone with information or CCTV of the incidents to come forward.

Police are urging people to lock their dwellings and vehicles to make it as hard as possible for these criminals to gain entry and steal property.

In court

At about 8am on March 26, Rosewood Police intercepted a Walloon man, 33, driving a vehicle on Wallace Street, Walloon and conducted a breath test. As a result, the driver returned a positive reading of 0.121% and was issued a notice to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court.

The man’s licence was suspended immediately.

Police urge drivers to re-consider driving after drinking the night before and to ensure you have had time to process the alcohol to a legal driving limit.
