This old guitar and I, have been together quite a while.
It has helped me stay, half sane,
And given me a reason, to smile!
Back in the fifties, when I just tried to make sense of it,
Sometimes, I would get frustrated,
And throw a mini-fit!
Eventually it all came together,
And we played on, in all types of weather.
During the sixties, it was rock and roll,
Playing late night gigs
At times, took its toll!
The guitar and me, are one,
As we continued to entertain everyone.
The seventies came with a different beat.
Which was a different feat.
The guitar and I changed our style,
At university with study, and playing the classics for a while.
You never know, how your life can change,
I became a teacher
Of art and music,
With my life having to rearrange!
Forty years on, we are still good friends,
We have shared much knowledge,
And made many friends!
If you are lucky, when you are young,
And learn to play the guitar,
It could help you smile and go far!
