DRESSED in red jackets adorned with gold piping and epaulets, offset by white boots, skirts, gloves and formal hats, the Marburg Marching Girls were once a common sight at local shows, street parades and celebrations.
Accompanying the girls, boys were often seen playing music in a brass band, as they were cheered on by their families on the side lines.
Marburg resident Robert Krause said that he came across the photo of the Marburg Marching Girls and wanted to share it with readers of the Moreton Border News.
“This photo was taken just in front of the Marburg Hotel on Centenary Day which was a big celebration for the town, it represents an iconic part of Marburg’s history,” he said.
“I recall watching the marching girls at different events that were held in Marburg, the place that I grew up in with my family.
“When I found this photo, I thought that it would be great to share it, to bring back memories for the families who also attended this special day.”
