Poultry Club show draws more than 1,350 exhibits

THE annual Ipswich and District Poultry Club Show was held at the Rosewood Showgrounds on Saturday.

Poultry owners travelled from all over Australia to take part in an event which attracted lots of visitors to the pavilion to admire more than 1,000 entries.

“Rosewood is a great venue to host such a huge event,” said Club President Ben Biddle.

“The number of entries was very impressive and to cater for the numbers we even had to move some more boxes in from other venues to hold the poultry and the birds,” he said.

“It is always interesting to see so many different and rare breeds at the Show.

“Breeders travel from far and wide to show them off and we are always grateful for the support that we receive.

“This is a spectacular event and one of the biggest shows that is held in Queensland.”

He described the event as a valued networking opportunity for for breeders.

“It is always great to catch up with so many people and to share our passion for the poultry world with others,” Mr Biddle said.

Visitors included Member for Ipswich West Jim Madden.

“I was overwhelmed by the amount of people at the Show.

“On arrival the pavilion was full of both an unbelievable number of entrants and also families with young children who had come to see the birds,” he said.

“There are so many different breeds, some that I have never seen before, of all different sizes and colours.

“It is a very interesting and a really enjoyable event.

“I congratulate the Ipswich and District Poultry Club on their success in holding this show and also say congratulations to all of the entrants.”
