Rosewood Lions give back to community

THE Rosewood Lions Club presented more than $32,000 to community groups and organisations to show their support during the 2020 – 2022 financial year.

A presentation was held at the Lions shed where past President Ken Kuen was joined by Secretary Christine Forrest in presenting each group with a cheque.

More than $11,000 was donated to Rosewood groups such as the men’s workshop, the community centre, Cabanda Care, the Scout group, the RSL, the kindergarten, the Little Athletics group, Junior Rugby League, the swimming club, women’s group, CWA, Rosewood School of Dance and the United Soccer club.

Some of the organisations outside of Rosewood which also received a cheque were the Ipswich Hospice, the Ipswich Hospital Foundation, the Ipswich Prostate Cancer Support Group, Camp Quality, the Royal Flying Doctors Service and Lions International Camp Duckadang.

The local Lions also donated to the Lions’ local and overseas disaster funds, and local groups which may have needed help for equipment and events.

Each recipient showed their appreciation for the Lions’ support to their individual group.

Debbie Brown from the Rosewood and District Community Kindergarten said the Lions have supported the kindergarten as well as many other local community groups for many years.

“I would like to thank the Lions for their generous donation to our kindy.

“They are hardworking individuals who give so much of their time to the community and to helping others, we all thank you.”
