THE Rebels Boxing Club performed at the Golden Gloves event with over 500 competitors from all over Australia and New Zealand at Acacia Ridge recently.
Rebels Boxer Livai Savuro took on Edward Richards from New Zealand in the 60-kilogram Open Division Livai defeated his opponent with a conclusive points decision.
Then moving into the final Livai competed against New Zealand Golden Gloves Champion Connor Campbell who is known to be a very tough opponent, who is aggressive and physical with a high work rate.
Throughout the match Livai delivered speed and managed to work around Connor, which gained him the win and he took home the Golden Gloves Title.
Fellow Rebels Boxers Andreas Rice and Kayne Tate received Silver Gloves and Coach Robbie Sbeghen said that the team did very well and should be proud of their individual achievements.
“More then 350 fights were professionally run throughout the event, boxing Queensland really had their work cut out for them with judges and officials travelling from all over the country,” he said.
“In September we head to Bundaberg for the Wide Bay Titles, the Elite State Titles and the Novice Titles.”
