THE University of Southern Queensland’s Phoenix Radio produced a live-to-air broadcast on site at Rosewood State High School, last week.
The school’s Guidance Officer Justine Grant said the station was a university student project undertaken as part of their Bachelor of Applied Media program and involves the creation of a full time digital radio station.
“Rosewood High students visited and engaged with lecturers and students at USQ’s Springfield campus earlier this year, where they recorded podcasts and ‘back-announced’ songs directly on air,” she said.
“After this experience the Year 11 and 12 Creative Industries students were delighted to invite their university counterparts to visit us here in Rosewood.
“For the duration of the one hour broadcast, university students conducted interviews with Rosewood High staff and students, and Creative Industries students were invited to present segments by themselves, live on air.
“Overall, the event has strengthened the relationship between Rosewood High and USQ and looks to improve for years to come.
“Additionally, the Creative Industries students have taken the experience they have gathered, as well as their own enthusiasm to begin recording their own lunchtime radio station called, Raven Radio, which will debut this week.”
