Following predictions from the Bureau of Meteorology of a wetter than average summer season local creeks and rivers once again flowed, and flooding was evident throughout the area from Friday through to Sunday.
Ipswich City Council opened the gates at the council depot on Mill Street in Rosewood to provide sandbags for residents to prevent flooding into their properties.
As the rain continued, by early Saturday the Bremer River was flowing at a steady rate, but water levels remained below the Seven Mile Bridge at Rosewood and the Five Mile bridge at Walloon, though the Haigslea Amberley Road between Walloon and the Five Mile was closed due to flooding.
The bridge at the end of Keanes Road in Rosewood was flooded by Saturday with pot holes and deterioration of the road continuing to occur and council was also informed about a large chunk of the road that had been lost to a sink hole on William Street at the Drakes supermarket entrance.
