MEMBERS of the Clan Forsyth Society of Australia visited Rosewood this month, to enjoy a tour around Rosewood and Amberley to share in the interesting history that the district has to offer.
Among the travellers were former Amberley residents Vic and Val Ashton, who were heavily involved in the community when they lived at Amberley.
The Ashton family have been recognised through geographical naming such as Ashtons Corner which is adjacent to where they lived at Amberley before the State Government purchased their property to expand the RAAF base.
The bus tour group enjoyed a morning tea in Amberley, before travelling to Rosewood where they visited some of the main areas of interest and met with History Group Founder David Pahlke for a guided tour.
In giving the visitors an outline of the history of the area, he said he had known the Ashton family for more than 30 years.
“Throughout my time as the local Councillor I was fortunate enough to meet many lovely families and the Ashton family are valued friends,” he said
“Rosewood and the surrounding areas hold so much history and I am always honoured to share it with visitors and families.”
